Music

Music is a cornerstone of the broad and balanced education that every child should receive. It touches hearts and minds,                                                                                         it celebrates and challenges, and it connects us and moves us.

(The power of music to change lives document June 2022)

Every child should receive a great music education. Learning about music and having the opportunity to play musical instruments and make music together is a vital part of a rich and rounded education. Music plays a key role in brain development. It helps to develop language, motor skills, emotional intelligence and collaboration skills. DfE Jan 2023.

At St.Patrick's we wholeheartedly agree with the above statement and this is why music is timetabled for every pupil each week. As a school we sing together, appreciate different types of music, have the opportunity to work with specialist teachers of music each week and we learn to play an instrument. We are proud of our music curriculum and make sure our children are secondary ready. Check out our live performances on the school Twitter feed.
